is an arts education program that highlights "mindful learning" as students learn the foundations of playing taiko, and experience several facets of Japanese culture.

Mindfulness and Meditation are popular these days because they help people manage stress, pain, difficult emotions, and life's challenges - big and small.
The benefits of mindfulness and meditation are supported by neuroscience. Meditation can physically change the brain and help people develop the ability to be less reactive, more present, and able to appreciate each moment.
Mindfulness has been shown to improve overall well-being and to address a variety of health issues including and related to depression, anxiety, addiction, and poor sleep.
KORU is a 4 week class that introduces mindfulness and meditation to adults. It has been shown to reduce stress, improve sleep, and increase self-compassion.
During each class, students learn new strategies for meditation and being mindful. Between classes, students practice each day, check in with the course teacher via an app, and begin to experience the benefits of building one's mindfulness muscles.
There is a supplementary text, and an app that supports keeping track of progress. It also provides videos and tips for motivation!
It's one thing to know about mindfulness and meditation... and quite another to have a practice that keeps them alive and accessible in daily life.
